5th and 6th GRADE PLANNER

Dear 5th and 6th Grade Parent,

MCS is planning an exciting learning experience for our 5th and 6th grade students. We will be attending science classes during Nature Camp at Camp Oakes this year. The following information is being provided to assist you in planning ahead for this exciting adventure.


DATES:       This is a 3 day, 2 night activity from May 1-3, 2019.  All meals, except for lunch the first day are included. We stay in carpeted rooms that have bunk beds, heating and air conditioning.  Bathrooms are inside the rooms.


COST:          $300.00

1st  payment DUE:    February 22, 2019 of $100.00

2nd payment DUE:    March 22, 2019 of $100.00

3rd payment DUE:     April 19, 2019 of $100.00

Financial Requirements:

In order for the 5th or 6th grader to be eligible to go to Nature

Camp, the following must have a zero balance:

  • Registration for the 2018-2019 school year
  • Tuition current
  • Trip paid in full by due date

Ms. Martinez will answer questions and provide more information to the students in class.  Detailed information and a packing list will be handed out as the date gets closer.

7th GRADE Marine Biology Discovery CATALINA ADVENTURE 2018-2019

Dear 7th Grade Parents:

Our school’s Marine Biology Discovery is an exciting time of adventure, fun and hands on learning for our 7th grade students.  The Long Beach Marine Institute coordinates this exciting experience with a focus on learning and student safety.

Date:   October 10-12, 2018

  Cost:   $340.00

                   « 1st Payment DUE:   August 17, 2018 of $170.00

                   « Balance DUE:         September 21, 2018 of $170.00

Our 7th grade science teacher will grade the student’s work on all assignments from this Marine Biology experience.  This grade is a part of their final grade on the report card.  All students are required to complete a Marine Biology Workbook.


Students NOT attending the Catalina Adventure are required to attend school during the dates of this activity.  The students will be given workbooks to complete and turn in as required by students who do attend the Catalina Trip.

On Thursday, September 13, at Back to School Night, our 7th grade science teacher will provide detailed information regarding the Catalina trip.  Bring your questions or concerns, or contact Ms. Martinez.

Dear 8TH Grade Parents:

Our school’s 8th Grade class will be going to Washington DC.  Tour the State Capital and create exciting experience with a focus on learning all that Washington has to offer.

Date:   April 14-19, 2019

Cost: $2,800.00

The students will start each morning with a Devotion en-rout to each site.  Will be going to Museum, Pentagon City Mall (pending), Holocaust Memorial Museum, White House (picture stop), Arlington National Cemetery, Supreme Court (picture spot), Gettysburg National Cemetery, Battlefield Tour, Statue of Liberty Ferry, 9/11 Museum and catch a show in New York.

Pursuant to our School Board’s policy, 8th grade financial accounts must be paid in full in order for the 8th grade student to be eligible to go to Magic Mountain and to participate in the graduation ceremony.
